Set Up Client Analytics Reports with SlimStat
Applies to SlimStat 6.0.0 and SlimStat Pro 3.0.0 · checked
Use this recipe to send selected analytics reports from a client’s WordPress site. Begin with the client-report example, then agree with the client on the question the report should answer.
Prepare one client site
Keep Free 6 and Pro 3 installed and active. Existing customers can download Pro from their account and follow the license activation guide. Confirm that the site is recording eligible visits before scheduling a report.
Without Pro, open SlimStat → Email Report to preview a weekly sample of top pages and referring domains from the last seven days. Send me a sample sends it to yourself once; it does not start recurring mail.
Select reports and recipients
With Pro active, open SlimStat → Email Report:
- Choose the available page and referral reports by name for a basic content review. Start small and check that each report answers a client question.
- Enter only the approved Recipients. A client contact and an agency account manager can receive the same report; everyone on that list receives the selected data.
- Leave Attach CSV Files off unless recipients need a spreadsheet. Review its contents before enabling it.
- Use Advanced only when you need specific report fields or filters. Check the result in a test email, especially when changing scope.
For a general client report, avoid visitor-level records and personal fields. Add Ecommerce summaries only for recipients authorized to see store data. Per-author mail has a separate scope and excludes site-wide Heatmap insights and store revenue; it is not a shortcut for sending a full client report.
Choose a period and send a test
The Frequency determines both the schedule and the lookback period:
| Frequency | Report period |
|---|---|
| Daily | Last 24 hours |
| Weekly | Last seven days |
| Monthly | Last 31 days, not the previous calendar month |
| Off | Scheduled reports stop after saving |
Save, then select Send test email. Inspect the recipient inbox: confirm the site, selected reports, period, readable links and any attachments. Review the report data for information that should not be shared. A successful send request is not proof of delivery.
Confirm the first scheduled delivery
Scheduling needs WordPress cron, and delivery needs the site’s mail transport. After the first scheduled run, verify arrival with the intended recipient. If a report is missing, check the frequency, recipients, cron and mail delivery before changing analytics settings.
If a section is empty, inspect its source report with the same period and scope. Missing data may reflect consent, exclusions or recording setup. It does not automatically mean no visitors. See the email report reference for troubleshooting and stopping a schedule.
Repeat per installation and explain the result
For independent WordPress sites, configure recipients and schedules on each installation. A one-, five- or unlimited-site Pro license controls coverage; it does not create a shared hosted dashboard or transfer report templates. Pro Network View is for sites within a WordPress Multisite network and requires the appropriate network access.
Add your interpretation when you discuss the report with the client: pageviews are not unique people, contact-page views are not completed inquiries, and a change in traffic does not establish its cause. Compare equivalent periods. For service businesses, set up and test an inquiry goal before interpreting it as an outcome.
All site tiers include the same Pro features. Choose a Pro site license or manage an existing license.
